Why I Chose Function Health:
For months, I felt off. Not sick, not tired exactly—just… not myself. My energy dipped in weird ways, my sleep felt shallow, and despite doing “all the right things,” something didn’t add up.
If you’ve ever felt like your body was trying to tell you something, but you didn’t have the tools to listen—this is for you.
That’s when I found Function Health.
What is Function Health?
Function Health is a membership-based lab testing platform that gives you full access to your body’s data—100+ biomarkers tested through a comprehensive blood panel, with results interpreted by top doctors in functional and integrative medicine.
It’s not about diagnosing a disease. It’s about giving you a detailed map of your health—hormones, inflammation, metabolic health, heart health, nutrient levels, and more—so you can make smart, informed decisions for your future.
My Experience
I downloaded the app, scheduled my blood draw (super easy and local), and within a few days, I had a personalized dashboard showing everything from my cortisol levels to insulin sensitivity to nutrient deficiencies.
And here’s the part that excited me: My biological age came back 6.6 years younger than my actual age.47.6 instead of 54.4.
Was it validation? Absolutely. But it was also motivation—to keep investing in my health, now with real insight to guide me.
Why This Matters
You wouldn’t bake a cake without a recipe. So why guess with your health?
Symptoms are signals. But lab data is the language your body speaks. Instead of Googling your way to solutions or self-medicating with guesswork, Function Health gives you real clarity and a way forward.
FAQ's about Function Health
Is this covered by insurance?
No. The membership is out of pocket. In healthcare, insurance dictates a lot of what tests are covered, depending on the symptoms. Function Health is a private company ordering the tests without the input of insurance companies. If I were to pay for all of these labs through insurance, it would be thousands of dollars, as opposed to the $500 membership.
How much blood do they take?
Your lab work is split into 2 separate appointments. At each one they took 8-10 vials, as well as a urine sample at the second appointment. Should you add on any other specialty tests, they will also draw for those.
Can you eat before your blood draw?
Nope. They want you to be fasting for your blood draw! This allows for them to get the most accurate data of things like blood glucose levels.
How long does it take to get all the results?
From the first appointment, it was 2 and a half weeks before I got the physician notes. For all the tests that were run, I was pretty impressed that it didn’t take longer.
At Root and Greens, we believe self-care starts with self-awareness. Your wellness isn’t just about how you feel — it’s about what’s happening under the surface. And knowledge is the first step toward healing.
Function Health is the tool I wish I had years ago. If you're ready to get curious, take action, and build a healthier future from the inside out, this is your sign.
